Passport & Visa: What You Need to Know
Visa Requirements for U.S. Citizens:
E-Visa: U.S. citizens need a visa to enter Vietnam. The easiest option is the E-Visa, valid for up to 90 days with single or multiple entries.
How to Apply for an E-Visa:
Visit the Official Website: Vietnam E-Visa Portal
Prepare Required Documents:
Passport Scan: A clear scan of your passport's information page.
Passport Photo: A recent digital passport-sized photo.
Complete the Application:
Form: Fill out the online application form with accurate information.
Payment: Pay the visa fee ($25 for single entry, $50 for multiple entries) using a credit or debit card.
Receive Your E-Visa: Once approved, download and print your E-Visa to present upon arrival in Vietnam
Important Tips:
Apply Early: Start your visa application at least 1 month before your departure to allow for processing time.
Double-Check Information: Ensure all details match your passport to avoid any issues upon arrival.
Flight Options
Getting to Hoi An:
There are multiple ways to get to Hoi An.
Option 1: Fly into Da Nang International Airport (DAD): This is the closest airport to Hoi An, about a 45-minute - 1 hr drive away.
Option 2: Fly into Saigon - Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), then fly from Saigon to Da Nang (DAD).
Major U.S. Departure Cities:
Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York: These cities offer flights with one or two layovers to Da Nang.
Vietnam Airlines offers direct flights from San Francisco and LA to Saigon and Da Nang.
Popular Transit Hubs:
Seoul (Incheon International Airport): Korean Air, Asiana Airlines.
Tokyo (Narita International Airport): Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways.
Taipei (Taoyuan International Airport): EVA Air, China Airlines.
Hong Kong (Hong Kong International Airport): Cathay Pacific.
From Da Nang to Hoi An:
Downloading the Grab app (their version of Uber): Easily available at the airport; the ride takes about 45 minutes and cost less than $20.
